Building Self-Belief and Unlocking Potential

Welcome to Decoding Dyslexia Tutoring. My name is Liz Williams, and I provide specialist, personalised support for learners from Key Stage 2 through to Key Stage 4 who may have dyslexia or show traits associated with dyslexia. Whether your child has a formal diagnosis or is finding reading, spelling, or writing difficult, tailored support can help them build confidence and make progress.

Based in Horsforth, Leeds, I offer specialist 1:1 tutoring in students’ homes across the surrounding areas. My evidence-informed approach is designed around each student’s individual strengths, needs, and learning profile. Using structured, multisensory approaches, I support learners to develop their literacy skills, build confidence, and recognise their potential.

My background

My passion for supporting learners with dyslexia began during my 11 years working in primary schools, where I supported children with a range of learning needs. During this time, I gained valuable experience delivering structured literacy interventions, including Alpha to Omega and Toe by Toe, and developed a strong understanding of how multisensory approaches can help children build literacy skills and confidence.

I now work in a secondary school and have done for the last three years as a Dyslexia Champion, supporting students with dyslexia through personalised interventions. This includes developing reading, vocabulary, memory, handwriting, study and revision skills, as well as helping students understand their needs and recognise their strengths. I also use strengths-based approaches, including project work, to help learners experience success and build self-belief.

With my AMBDA Tutor qualification (Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association), I have specialist training in supporting learners with dyslexia through structured, evidence-informed teaching approaches. This enables me to provide personalised support that targets individual areas of need while building confidence, independence, and a positive approach to learning.

Getting Started

I begin with a free, comprehensive assessment (approximately one hour) to understand your child’s individual strengths, needs, and learning profile. This helps identify the areas where support will have the greatest impact and allows me to create a personalised approach tailored to your child’s learning goals.

1:1 sessions

Following the assessment, I can recommend the most appropriate next steps and discuss how tutoring could support your child’s progress. If you decide to continue, I will create personalised SMART targets to guide your child’s learning and ensure each session is focused, purposeful and tailored to their individual needs and goals. I will then plan and deliver personalised 1:1 tutoring sessions in the comfort of your child’s own home, with regular opportunities to review progress and celebrate achievements.

Sessions are available from £30 per session. There is no obligation to continue following the free assessment; the decision to proceed will always be entirely yours.

Thank you for considering Decoding Dyslexia Tutoring. I look forward to hearing from you.
